Το laptop έρχεται με προεγκατεστημένο το Linpus Linux Lite, το οποίο είναι ένα τροποποιημένο fedora 8.
Σαν βάση για το περιβάλλον εργασίας, το Xfce 4.4.2, αν και αρκετά από τα τμήματά του συμπεριφέρονται διαφορετικά.
Το run dialog βγαίνει στο Alt+F2 όμως και περιλαβάνεται το Terminal, οπότε προκύπτουν αρκετά ενδιαφέροντα πραγματάκια:

Αυτό που διαπίστωσα είναι πως έχουν αφήσει και τα binaries του fedora εκτός των τροποποιημένων, οπότε μπόρεσα λ.χ. να τρέξω το “κανονικό” xfce4-panel, που επιτρέπει το μενού στο δεξι κλικ, και μπόρεσα να προσθέσω ένα κανονικό Xfce menu εκεί. Αλλαγές έχουν επίσης ο Thunar και το xfdesktop.
Επίσης, ο χρήστης που δημιουργείται με το πρώτο άνοιγμα έχει πρόσβαση στο sudo χωρίς κωδικό, οπότε ένα sudo su – αργότερα είμουν υπερχρήστης. Μετά άλλαξα το /etc/sysconfig/i18n και στην επόμενη επανεκκίνηση είχα το μεγαλύτερο τμήμα του περιβάλλοντος στα Ελληνικά.
Περιλαμβάνεται επίσης το yum, ρυθμισμένο στα αποθετήρια του fedora (!)
Τι επιπτώσεις μπορεί να έχει αυτό θα το διαπιστώσω αφού πάρω ένα αντίγραφο ασφαλείας του συστήματος…
Από αυτονομία πάει αρκετά καλά επίσης. Χθες μου κράτησε γύρω στις 2,5 ώρες με wifi και browsing (κατά κύριο λόγο), με τη “μικρή” μπαταρία.

Να το σκεφτείς καλά πριν πάρεις την έκδοση με το SSD πάντως…
Είναι αρκετά αργό. Σε κανονική λειτουργία δεν φαίνεται ιδιαίτερα πάντως, αλλά σε περιορίζει όπως και να έχει.
(Το πλεονέκτημα σε βάρος και αυτονομία όμως είναι σημαντικό επίσης)
